The Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art Kennesaw State University's Art Galleries
The Zuckerman Museum of Art’s 2024 Art Educators Biennial, PLAYFUL ENCOUNTERS, considers how art can be about play and the myriad ways artist-educators engage artmaking for enjoyment and recreation. Play carries the imagination to unexpected destinations and supports unbridled generative work. Didi Dunphy, artist and juror of Playful Encounters, engages concepts of play at the core of her practice. According to critic Rebecca Brantley, “Dunphy’s exploration of happiness has factors at work that prove play is a nuanced and worthwhile endeavor. Notions of gender, art history, and fulfillment are among her concerns.” This exhibition, open only to art teachers in P-12 schools in the metro Atlanta region, seeks submission of work representing artistic engagement through playful encounters.
