Frequently Asked Questions

  • YAM stands for Youth Art Month.

  • Youth Art Month is celebrated during the month of March each year.

  • The YAM Flag contest is an opportunity available to all students in Georgia who’s art teacher is a GAEA member. The contest submissions are typically due in late January. The winning entry (or entries) are physically printed on a flag to represent the state of Georgia at the National Art Education Association Conference held each year.

    • Incorporate the theme “The World Needs Art” in the design

    • Must incorporate items that represent the state and represent art (ex: art supplies)

    • Must include the words “Youth Art Month” and “Georgia”

  • Please submit entries with a .pdf of the release form and a separate .jpeg or .pdf file of the art design. The design itself can be made in any media (digital or otherwise) but must be submitted as a high-quality digital image.

  • Please email your submissions to georgiayaminfo@gmail.com (you do not have to physically mail the designs.) Please label each submission: StudentName_School_Artteacherrlastname_YAM2026

  • Please submit documentation for anything that you do to promote the arts by completing this form:

    Please share with us anything that you do during the month of March (or throughout the entire year) that you do to help advocate for the arts. This could be images of art shows you have held, fundraisers, sponsorships from your community, community art projects, etc.

    Our Youth Art Month Chairs then collect all of this data to submit to NAEA to help our state win awards.
